Therapy for Families

Families can hold some of our deepest connections as well as some of our most persistent difficulties. At times, families can find themselves caught in recurring conflicts, familiar roles, or patterns of communication that leave everyone feeling misunderstood, distant, or stuck.

Family therapy creates a space to slow these patterns down and look together at what is happening between family members—not simply at who is right or wrong.

We may explore communication, conflict, shifting family roles, parenting concerns, sibling relationships, boundaries, or significant transitions. Family therapy can be especially helpful when difficulties involving one family member begin to affect the family as a whole, or when a family is navigating a period of significant change.

With children and adolescents in particular, understanding the larger family context can be an important part of the work. Therapy can help family members better understand one another’s experiences, develop new ways of responding, and create relationships that feel more connected and workable.

My training includes specialized child and adolescent psychotherapy, as well as couples therapy, allowing me to consider the individual and relational dimensions of family life and to work with families across different stages of development.
